mark and ray seeing the love of their lives
Obvious, but: this is especially poignant because they weren’t on speaking terms at the time. I mean John prettied himself up and had been on his way back to Sherlock when he was abducted, but I don’t think Sherlock knew about that. The last words John said to him before this moment appear to have been “Fuck off.” And Sherlock accepted that.
You may not want me in your life anymore, John Watson, but there’s no way I’m going to let you die.
now I’m ashamed to even wear their merchandise because of the things they say and stand by, and it feels terrible. Because how can I educate myself and try to better my own actions and thoughts when the people I look up to use stuff like that for comedy material? Especially when they have fans who looked up to them with stuff like that, like thanking AH for making them smile and helping them fight through depression, and then the guys turn around and make suicide jokes like that.
It feels too difficult to be critical of them while also still being a fan of them, because while I admire what they do and the lengths they’ve achieved with their success, their attitudes and behaviors are becoming more and more toxic in the gaming community and shutting out any form of bringing their attention to that (like Ray giving a shoutout to the parody site to rag on you). Do you have any thoughts or advice on what I’m feeling, in case others are feeling this way too?
I know exactly how you feel. It’s a weird dichotomy because whilst I do appreciate them and the content they put out, and I do generally like them, it’s like… decent people don’t keep using slurs that they know hurt people, and it’s pretty clear at this point that they know that, so it’s a huge disappointment that they’ve gone back to using certain slurs.
And yes, all media has it’s problems, but some media is worse than others and there are let’s players that don’t do this shit and don’t dismiss their fandom when they point it out and actually take action. No one is perfect, all media has its problems, but the lack of any engagement or caring in the issue from RT is really disheartening so you’re really not alone in how you’re feeling and I’ve seen a lot of people move away from the fandom because of similar reasons.
Cis men’s nudes barely make the news like l o l i remember when one of those twin dudes’ nudes got leaked and all i saw was support and the woman who leaked them was vilified (as she should have been, i am not questioning that), but i literally saw no one saying “he was asking for it” or “maybe he shouldn’t have taken the photos”. Like cis men get sympathy when their nudes are leaked, or even congratulations on their bodies, women get shamed and stigmatized and blamed for it. Like l o l how about no on the making excuses not to have sympathy, oh but lo and behold it’s an anti-social justice blog, so i’m not entirely surprised that they’re finding excuses not to give a shit about other human beings.
I would agree with this- except- where was this sentiment when men’s nudes got leaked? Where was the outcry? Where was the sympathy? oh, right. There wasn’t any. You can’t have it both ways.

That’s because the men aren’t being called sluts and whores. The comments on their pictures aren’t about rape. The men aren’t being stigmatized, they’re getting a little laugh and this won’t affect people’s perspective of them. All the women who have had their nudes released are going to have the public’s view of them forever changed.
